The fine print for the website and the CLONE COPS game. No clones were harmed in the drafting.

Who we are

The Clone Cops website at clonecopsmovie.com and the Clone Cops mobile game for iOS and Android (together, the "Services") are operated by HiPhi Productions and Neon Media ("we," "us," or "our").

Questions about anything on this page go to hello@neonmedia.co.

Terms of Service

The short version: play the game, enjoy the movie, don't cheat, hack, or rip off our stuff, and understand that the game is provided as-is.

1. Accepting these terms

By visiting the website or downloading, installing, or playing the game, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Services. If you download the game from the Apple App Store or Google Play, that store's terms also apply to your download.

2. Who can play

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Services only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms.

3. Your license to the game

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and play the game on devices you own or control, for non-commercial entertainment. You may not:

  • copy, modify, decompile, reverse engineer, or create derivative works of the game, except where the law expressly allows it;
  • use cheats, bots, exploits, or modified clients, or manipulate leaderboards, save data, in-game currency, or NFC rewards;
  • copy, forge, or rewrite official Clone Cops NFC tags;
  • sell, rent, or transfer your access, progress, or in-game items; or
  • use the Services in any unlawful way or in a way that interferes with other players or our systems.

4. Our content

Clone Cops, its characters, artwork, footage, music, logos, and all game and website content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law. These Terms don't transfer any ownership to you. Press materials in our press kit may be used for editorial coverage of the film and game.

5. Things you send us

When you submit a film, beta-survey feedback, a comic request, or any other idea or material, you confirm that you have the right to share it. You keep ownership of films you submit. For feedback and suggestions, you grant us a free, worldwide, perpetual license to use them to improve the Services without owing you anything.

6. Virtual items and progress

In-game currency, upgrades, mutations, weapons, and other virtual items are part of the license above. They have no real-world monetary value, cannot be exchanged for cash, and are not your property. Game progress is saved on your device; uninstalling the game or clearing its data may erase it, and we can't restore it. We may rebalance, change, or remove virtual items as the game evolves. See Purchases & Refunds.

7. NFC event tags

The game can scan official Clone Cops NFC tags at events and promotions to unlock in-game rewards. Rewards are subject to cooldowns, availability, and the rules of each event, and we may end or change a promotion at any time.

8. Ads and third-party services

The game shows ads, including optional rewarded ads, and uses Apple Game Center for leaderboards. Links on the website lead to streaming platforms and other third-party sites. We are not responsible for third-party content, products, or services, and your use of them is governed by their own terms.

9. Updates and availability

We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time. Some updates may be required to keep playing. We don't guarantee the Services will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.

10. Disclaimer

11. Limitation of liability

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain disclaimers or limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.

12. Indemnity

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the Services or your violation of these Terms.

13. Ending access

You can stop using the Services at any time by uninstalling the game. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, governing law) will survive.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Tennessee, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.

15. Apple and Google

These Terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google. Apple and Google are not responsible for the game or its support, maintenance, warranty, or any claims relating to it. If the game fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple or Google for a refund of any purchase price, as their policies allow. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

Privacy Policy

The short version: the game doesn't require an account, and your progress stays on your device. Our ad partner, Google AdMob, collects device and ad data to show and measure ads, with your consent where the law requires it. On the website, we collect only what you type into a form, plus standard analytics. We don't sell your personal information for money.

What we collect from the website

  • Newsletter: your email address, stored with our email provider, Mailchimp, so we can send you updates. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • Film submissions: your name, email, city, film title, link, and description.
  • Comic book requests: your name, email, and mailing address, used only to ship your comic.
  • Game beta survey: your name, email, platform, and the feedback you give.
  • Emails to us: whatever you choose to include.
  • Analytics and logs: pages visited, referring site, browser, device, approximate location, and IP address, collected through Google Analytics and our hosting provider's server logs. See Cookies & Analytics.

Form submissions are sent to our team by email. We use them only for the purpose you submitted them for.

How we use information

  • To run, maintain, and improve the website and the game
  • To show ads that support a free game
  • To respond to you, review submissions, and send things you asked for
  • To understand how people find and use the Services
  • To detect fraud and abuse, and to comply with law

Where EU or UK law applies, our legal bases are your consent (personalized ads, analytics cookies, newsletter), performance of a contract (providing the game and things you request), and our legitimate interests (security, improving the Services, and non-personalized ads).

How we share information

We share information only with service providers that help us run the Services (Google, Apple, Mailchimp, and our web host), when the law requires it, to protect our rights or users' safety, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We do not sell personal information for money. Letting AdMob use advertising identifiers for personalized ads may count as "selling" or "sharing" under some US state laws. You can opt out as described in Ads & Tracking Choices.

Google's use of data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. Apple's is in the Apple Privacy Policy.

How long we keep it

We keep form submissions and emails only as long as needed for the reason you sent them, generally no more than 24 months, unless we need them longer for legal reasons. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Google Analytics data is kept for no more than 14 months. Game data on your device stays until you delete the game.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including the EU, UK, California, and other US states), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or get a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of targeted advertising or the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We won't discriminate against you for using these rights. To make a request, email hello@neonmedia.co. We may need to verify your request, and we'll respond within the time the law requires. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Security and international transfers

We use reasonable safeguards to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We are based in the United States, and our providers may process data in the US and other countries. Where required, those transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

Cookies & Analytics

The website uses Google Analytics 4, which sets first-party cookies (such as _ga) to count visits and understand which pages and links are used, for example, how many people click through to watch the movie. The website doesn't show ads.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site works fine without them. Embedded videos and links to streaming platforms may set their own cookies under those companies' policies.

Ads & Tracking Choices

The game is free because of ads, served by Google AdMob. You're in control of how they use your data:

  • In the game: open Settings and tap Ad Privacy Options to review or change your consent at any time. This option appears where privacy laws require it, such as in the EU, UK, and certain US states.
  • iPhone and iPad: the game asks permission before accessing your advertising identifier. You can change this anytime in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. If you say no, you'll still see ads, just less personalized ones.
  • Android: go to Settings > Google > Ads (or Settings > Privacy > Ads) to delete or reset your advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalization.
  • Google ad settings: manage personalization across Google at adssettings.google.com.

Rewarded ads are always optional. You choose whether to watch one in exchange for an in-game bonus.

Purchases & Refunds

Clone Cops is free to download. In-game currency and items are earned through play, rewarded ads, and NFC event tags. They have no cash value and can't be refunded, transferred, or exchanged for real money.

If we ever offer real-money in-app purchases, they will be processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, not by us. We never see or store your payment card details. Refunds for those purchases are handled under the store's refund policy:

Any purchases tied to your store account can be restored on a new device through the game's restore option, where one is offered. Because game progress is stored only on your device, earned currency and progress can't be transferred between devices or recovered after you uninstall.

Data Deletion

The Clone Cops game doesn't use accounts, so there's no account to delete. Here's how to remove your data:

  1. Game progress and settings: uninstall the game, or on Android clear its storage in Settings > Apps > Clone Cops > Storage. This permanently deletes all save data on that device.
  2. Advertising data: reset or delete your device's advertising ID (see Ads & Tracking Choices). Google keeps AdMob data under its own retention policies.
  3. Game Center scores: manage or remove them in your Apple Game Center settings.
  4. Newsletter: click "unsubscribe" in any email, or ask us to delete your email entirely.
  5. Anything else we hold (form submissions, survey answers, emails): email hello@neonmedia.co with the subject "Data Deletion Request" and the email address you used. We'll confirm and delete it within 30 days, except anything we must keep by law.

Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information, contact hello@neonmedia.co and we'll delete it.

Changes & Contact

We may update these policies as the game and website change. We'll post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date. If a change is significant, we'll give additional notice, such as in the game or on the website. Continuing to use the Services after an update means you accept it.
